[/i]Autumn Tumnus
I want to run with reckless emotion,
Find out if love is the size of an ocean,
Even if I crash down, burn out,
At least I’m going to know what it’s like,
To feel alive...
.xXx. [/color] Ignorance is Bliss. Autumn stared at the wall ahead of her as she lay silently in her bed, hands outstretched above her, bed sheets tightly wrapped around her lean body, as she thought of the saying. Was it true? Was Ignorance truly Bliss? She figured it was possible. What you don’t know couldn’t possibly hurt you. But, what if one did know there was something that they didn’t know, but knew it would hurt them if they did? Autumn’s brows furrowed, her lips pursing into a fine line. She was just confusing herself, now. Why was she even thinking of such things? Ignorance? Bliss? Probably her brother, knowing her mind’s tendencies. It was odd, how someone’s mind always seemed to creep back to the most avoided topics. Like death, fear, and loss. The woman’s light, amber eyes flickered towards the clock sitting at her bedside, just as the minute changed to 6:00. Her alarm sounded mere seconds later, the insisted buzzing demanding her to get out of her comfortable, warm bed. Slowly, Autumn pulled herself into a sitting position, and reached over to lightly run her hand over the off button. Her alarm stopped mid-buzz, which brought a small smile to her features.
Screw ignorance. Silence was definitely bliss.
The woman shifted to pull her knees into her chest, in order to pull the tangled blankets from their relentless grip on her legs, before slipping off the bed with ease. It was officially her first working day here, and she intended to make a good impression. After all, impressions were everything, when it came to people. Autumn sighed, before walking towards the kitchen, to grab herself some coffee. She set everything up within moments, as it was all easy to grab, and turned on the coffee maker, before walking off into the washroom. She would finish showering before the coffee would be finished, and would fetch it before she blow-dried her hair. It was her routine. And for the most part, Autumn always followed her routine.
Her shower was quick, though only brought further contentment to the woman. It was entirely calming, to have a warm shower in the morning. The only part that she always feared? Getting out. It was dreadfully cold, when one got out of the shower. Autumn smirked to herself, amused for no true reason. She was really only thinking to herself about how cold she was. Sad, really. She wrung her wet hair out carefully, before putting it up into a towel, wrapping another white towel around herself, and walked into the kitchen. Her coffee had finished, and Autumn poured it into a mug, took a sip, winced when it was too hot, before leaving the mug on the counter while she went to blow-dry her hair.
After she was satisfied with her hair, Autumn walked back into her bedroom and slipped on a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, a white tank top, and a looser black, long-sleeved, one-shouldered top. She then took the time to put in a few fake-diamond stud earrings, she couldn’t afford real ones, before standing before the mirror to look herself over. She didn’t look like she was going to work a job in the office, which pleased her. Casual, but classy. Autumn smirked and rolled her eyes, before jogging into the washroom to brush her teeth, grab her bag, and dash out the door, leaving her coffee sitting on the counter, still warm.
8:00AM. Good, she’d be early.
The woman decided to walk, mostly because she loved fresh air, and it wasn’t fifteen minutes later that she pulled open the door to her new workplace. She was nervous, which was natural, although she was also... Excited. The first kid was always the one that set the bar for all the rest. Would she work with s crazy, today? Or a more... sane, kid? Or an adult? She’d have to wait and find out.
Autumn nodded towards the receptionist and walked through the hallway to a door with her name on it, before delicately opening it and walking inside. She paused, gaze flickering about the room, before she realized how entirely bland the place was. Full with calming colors and bland, boring paintings on the walls. Everything was so neat, and not at all homey. That simply... wouldn’t do. Autumn placed her overflowing bag down onto the floor, beside her desk, before digging through it to find her pad of paper and a pen. She found it within minutes, and stuffed all the access stuff back into her bag, before jotting down a quick To-Do list. Decorating, of course, was the first on the list. She then took a seat beside her desk, pulled her laptop from her bag, opened it, and began going through everything she’d been emailed. Who would be sent into her, today?
I suppose she would find out.
They think they know me,
But how can they know me?
I’m getting to know myself,
I’m finally ready to be somebody,
with a story to tell...
