It was hard work running a vampire clan when he was the new comer somewhere. It was easier when he was over two hundred and fifty years old. Meant he was powerful even if he never acted like that, he hated to show off what he could do. He had only done it once so far, to take over the clan and change it’s morals until it suited his needs more than it had moments before he had done so. It had been to simple, too easily controlled by other clans because it wasn’t as violent as them and he had to rectify that little problem. The question was whipping his little vamps into shape, though he had Iris to help him with that, even if she was just still learning herself as she went along. He needed a break from the paperwork though, it was endless and it was enough to drive him utterly insane, it never ended! He was pretty sure that a vampire clan should not have to deal with paperwork, but they did own certain things and places actually, which meant properties had to be signed over from the old clan leader to Seth and it was a nightmare to take care of. He wanted to drive a stake into his own heart rather than deal with all this idiocy. So he had left it to leave and go out for once. Seth was good at controlling everything about him that was immortal and vampire. His fangs stayed carefully hidden and rarely extended unless he needed them, he made a point to control his blood lust as best as he could, he didn’t move too fast unless he was on his own and there was no chance of anyone seeing, he didn’t break concrete or lift cars. The most important thing he knew how to control however, was his aura. Seth would breathe, he would blink, he would move randomly, just little twitches. He knew how to never be too still, knew how to force his heart how to beat. Most people would mistake him for something other than a deadly strong vampire often and that was how he liked it. The only people who needed to be startled by his power were the random little upstarts that decided they could challenge him whenever it pleased them to do so. Little babies thought he would be easy to pick off because he simply seemed so weak. He never shared his age with them, they didn’t need to know. They could try and beat him all they wanted, they would simply end up worse for trying, not he. So why should he worry about it? Either way, he was out today. The blue shirt he wore, crisp and neat, accentuated his coloring and made him look better, he had had long enough to know which colors worked best with him, and simple jeans. Nothing too elegant but nothing too sloppy either. It wasn’t necessary for him to be totally dressed to the nines just because the place he was going was elegant, they would look at him dirty but they wouldn’t keep him from entering, not if they knew what was good for them or had heard the news about who he was exactly. He hoped so, it was tiring to keep explaining over and over again. They needed to get their gossip straight. Either way, he arrived at Elegance quickly, sliding in because they did indeed recognize him and took him to one of the high end tables even. Within moments, he had his drink, a dark red warm liquid that was obvious to him at least what it was, even if others didn’t know. His actual food was on its way as well, not that he needed to eat but he liked to from time to time, it relaxed him more than anything else. That and running, but he wasn’t in the mood to run today. He waited for his food, swirling his drink in the elegant red wine glass and taking the occasional sip, staring out into the night from the window by his side. Adelaide didn't understand why she was going to Elegance tonight. She didn't feel like eating out, but, at the same time, she had to keep up appearances. She had to instill slight fear in those in her district as well as the other species visiting her. She also wanted to get out of the damn house!! After that meeting with her sisters she stayed inside, dealing with business inside her study rather than out in the district. She was currently in her study, two stories high with spiral staircases leading to the second floor filled with books and manuscripts. The first floor held her favorite books and her desk where she worked. A fireplace was kept in the room for winter, though it was rarely lit, seeing as the cold didn't affect her and her staff as much. She checked the time on her desk and sighed. It was nearly dinner time, and Adelaide knew she had to leave for Elegance soon. She pulled her hair out of the bun it was in and let the gold and brown tresses fall down her shoulders and back. She stood up from the desk and placed the papers, new housing arrangements, into folders and she also placed the new vampire patients profiles in their own folder and quickly alphabetized them in her desk filing cabinet. She walked from her desk and quickly fixed her thigh high black leather boots, which were much more comfortable than you may think, and then fixed her black corset top. She exited the study and nodded to the maids to go clean it. They nodded their heads and curtsied quickly before entering the study. Adelaide smiled and walked to the front door, the butler waiting for her with her blue cloak lined with rabbit fur. He tied the cloak around her neck and pulled her hood up, fixing the ribbons and her hair. "All set madame.", he said, a French accent very prominent. Adelaide nodded once and smiled. "Thank you, if you keep up the good work there might be a raise in it for you." He nodded once and walked to the front door, opening it for the leader of the vampires. "Have a good time madame." Adelaide hummed a thank you and walked down the steps of her mansion, once again leaving her warm, safe, home to venture out into the crazy and the unluckily. She strode quickly, passing out of her gate and into the streets. The vampires saw her as their...Master, you could say. She saw others, Fortuna was a nice family, she liked them. She entered Elegance and the host quickly nodded to her. Adelaide's hood was still up but they knew it was her, as nobody else in the town owned a cloak from such fine fabrics and make. Adelaide's eyes quickly searched the room and found a blonde man sitting at a table alone, a glass in his hand. Adelaide strode over to his table and pulled her hood down. "Good evening, Seth Horus, is this seat taken?" Adelaide didn't mind if she sounded rude. She was the most powerful vampire in Black Springs, she may be one of the youngest, but she went through things that no person should go through. She was not to be messed with. Besides, she hadn't had the company of another man in quite some time, you could say she was...in need of a small fling. Seth was so deep into his thoughts that he hadn’t noticed the state of the restaurant pick up as it got later. Was it really his concern anyway? No, not really when it came down to it it seemed. His concern was his Family, and the two girls here he was sworn to protect by his own odd sense of honor. And Anya, there was always Anya. A fond smile crossed his lips as he sipped from the wine glass that was in his hands before once again taking to swirling its contents round and round. It was slightly hypnotic, but his gaze was at the window instead.
The night had always entranced him, even as a boy. Even when all his world had been was violence. It was something about the dark depths of the sky that caught his attention, even now when he could easily walk in the dark like any other, it was the night he preferred. He had never bothered to be anything other than nocturnal, why should he? There was no reason whatsoever to bother going back to the harsh sun. Appear normal? He did that well enough. In fact, despite his age, he was good at hiding what he was, he blinked, he breathed, he fidgeted or moved a lot to disguise his ability to sit absolutely still. But the one thing he would not do was turn from being nocturnal. He hated what he was some days, but the ability to live in the night was something he didn’t mind in the slightest.
And now it seemed he had went off on a slight mental tangent. He grinned to himself, he was turning into an old bat if he wasn’t careful. At any rate, his habit of staying nocturnal helped with his favorite illusion. The one that said he was entirely not as powerful as he was. It made people underestimate him and he liked that, he liked the element of surprise. And he kept it if he was careful to not use any of his abilities. Not that he liked using any of them anyway. He preferred to be…a gentleman. And using his abilities from time to time went entirely against that. Besides, wasn’t he supposed to be one of the good guys? White horse and all that.
The feeling of an aura, a strong one, coming closer along with the voice that went along with the aura caused him to turn. There was someone approaching his table and with a turn he noted who it was. He smiled and stood, careful not to let his smile turn more into his signature smirk instead. He was raised in a time where the gentleman stood for the lady who approached a table. It was only polite. He took her hand in his own and kissed the back delicately, bowing over it. As he had also been raised. He found the chivary he had grown up with was quite an amazing wooing technique. Very few men bothered to be a gentleman.
He wasn’t surprised that she knew his name. She ran part of the town after all, so he was careful to not be surprised or smug…just calm. She was a gorgeous woman after all. And he wouldn’t mind not burning that possible bridge, of course. ”Miss Adelaide Blake, the pleasure would be all mine” he said, ever the gentleman, ever the good man until they got him into bed and then the gentleman was lost, though they never seemed to mind, the women he flinged with. No, not at all. He shook his head to distill the thoughts and offered the seat, waiting until she sat before he took a seat as well.
He grinned a bit. ”I’ve already ordered but I have no doubt if you did as well they’d hold mine til yours was ready” he offered politely, waiting to see what she wanted. Or did the leader of the vampires around here just pay social visits to all the new leaders of the vampire families. It was possible. He took a long drink from the glass that was once more in his hands before setting it down, waiting for the answer of the beautiful woman sitting on the other side of the table.

Adelaide kept her thoughts on the state of her part of town. She had her mind filing through the requests and new patients in her part of town as well as the new vampire files that seemed never ending as she sorted through them. The pile just seemed to keep growing, never shrinking. She also had a little problem of rouge werecats and then there was the whole security issue. Adelaide thought the list would never stop.
Well that's what happened when you inherit a mess of problems that, instead of getting help from your fellow leaders, you took care of them yourself. Adelaide knew she could go to Sera if she needed help but she had an image to keep up, even if nobody would see her get for help, if word got out, well she wouldn't be seen as the "feared leader" she was.
Well, her twin deserved that title. Miss Kitty was more scary than she was, maybe it was because she was more violent. She shook her head away from that thought when she entered Elegance. Seth stood to greet her at his table and he took her hand, kissing the back of it as he bowed. Adelaide smiled, chivalry was not dead. "Please call me Adelaide, no need for formalities." She sat down across from him, unclasping the cloak from around her shoulders. Seth sat back down and said that if she wanted food they'd hold his order. She smiled and shook her head "I'm not very hungry at the moment, maybe dessert." Adelaide said, folding her hands in her lap.
Adelaide let her eyes wander the restaurant for a bit, watching people come and go. She looked back to Seth and let her fingers drum a little on the table. "If you don't mind, since I have a few minor questions on how the patients are going under your care as a foster, we'll start with those then after those are done let the topics find themselves, deal?" He could object to talking business, she didn't mind it,but she preferred to get her questions out of the way so she could finish up her report on the district.
Just business stuff.
A waiter brought her a glass of wine and she took it, sniffing it before taking a sip. She put the glass down on the table and watched Seth, eyes never leaving his face.
Muse: Ignore the crap post, never try to post when you're running on no sleep and have a headache in a very specific spot on your brain (front left ><)

Seth, ever the gentleman, saw nothing wrong with standing when a lady approached a table. He also saw nothing wrong with being the flirt he was, and bowing over said lady’s hand when she approached and kissing it. It didn’t hurt that the lady in question as the leader of the vampires around here, and as such technically his boss even if she was substancially younger than he was. He wasn’t going to mention that though, that would stay nicely tucked away in his own head where he would push it down for the remainder of the conversation. He knew she was powerful despite her age. And it would not hurt to make sure she liked him.
He had a feeling that she could make his life very difficult indeed if she decided that she didn’t like him. He didn’t like when things were difficult, so what was the harm in making sure that things stayed nice and light between them? She didn’t seem like she’d mind a bit of innocent flirting. And if what he had heard from the rumor mill was true, she would appreciate the attention from a flirt such as himself. So what was the harm in testing the waters a little bit? Besides, she was a very attractive woman. He couldn’t help but notice this.
She sat, telling him to simply call her Adelaide rather than the formal title, and he sat as well. He offered her a polite, appolegitic smile, but it was still on the border of being far too flirty to be simply friendly. ”You’ll have to excuse me then, manners were still taught to young gentleman when I was alive” he said, making slight commentary on the fact that people these days, especially young men, had lost the lesson of how to be a gentleman, how to use chivalry because it was the right thing to do and not just because it would get them in the woman’s pants. It was a pet peeve of his, and one he couldn’t seem to let go of no matter how old he got. Even when he was a monster, he would never harm a woman. It was simply imbued into him.
Seth nodded at her comment on the desert rather than having him wait for his food. Well that was all well and good to him. Seth didn’t get any form of nutrition from the food that he ate, but he was old enough that he could keep it down as long as he had blood as well, which was currently swirling along with wine in his glass, and he could appreciate the fine tastes of food even if they did nothing for him. Besides, the actual act of eating calmed him and he liked to, it was just one of the many quirks about the man along with his ability to entirely suppress his aura and make him seem much younger than he actually was, and it made people question him leading a family but they would have to deal with that. He was powerful, he just refused to flaunt it as most decided to do. He found that tasteless.
He took a careful sip of his wine as she spoke, saying what she wished to discuss. Ah, so it wasn’t Fortuna she wished to bring up, but those he took care of as a foster instead. That he could handle very well. He knew what he was doing when it came to treading on this topic, and he was happy to discuss business, as long as it wasn’t all they discussed. Seth’s appetite rarely stayed mainly in the realms of blood…there were other things he thirsted for, other more physical things. He could wait though, and talk of civil business. He was very good at that, being that he had handled business affairs for a long time before this. He nodded again and thought for a moment, carefully, before turning his eyes back to hers, a point of trust being that vampires could Mesmer other vampires.
If they were powerful enough to at least.
”Deal” he said pleasantly, taking another sip of his wine before going on. ”Well as I’m sure you know, I handle the A teen patients, which puts me under Sera’s supervision, so I’ll share with you what I did with her, alright?” he asked carefully, not wanting to step on any toes, because he knew how the sisters dealt with each other. They didn’t seem to like each other much and he didn’t want to burn any important bridges, so he waited a moment before he continued on talking as if he had never paused and added a questionary mark into there. ”My girls are Taryn Blaze, Astraea Greene, and Serenity O’Deina, plus one empty room. That makes it two witches and a vampire. I’ve known the O’Deina family a long time which is why I requested that house, Serenity has been under my care since she was born and I like to keep an eye on her. She also has issues with vampires, but Taryn doesn’t seem to have any interest in the other two so that makes it easy. Raea and Ser get along, which makes it good and they’re both very adult. It means I only have to check in on them from time to time and make sure the house is always stocked with the things they need. They seem to be doing well, and I’m sure you can ask them if you doubt me” he said with an easy smile, done with his assessment, and took another sip of his wine, waiting to see her thoughts on the matter.
